About Hulk 4x4 Exhaust Systems
Hulk 4x4 exhaust systems are stainless steel exhaust kits made to replace the factory system on popular Australian 4WDs, utes and wagons. Each kit is listed for a specific model, engine, body style and build date, so you can match it to your vehicle before you order.
- Stainless steel construction: stainless steel resists rust and corrosion better than the mild steel many factory systems use. That matters for 4WDs that regularly cross water, drive through mud or travel on salty coastal tracks.
- DPF-back exhaust kits: for newer diesels with a diesel particulate filter (DPF). These kits replace everything after the DPF and leave the filter in place.
- Non-DPF exhaust kits: for earlier diesels built before DPFs were fitted, including PJ/PK Rangers, RT D-MAX, ML/MN Tritons and pre-2016 LandCruiser 70 and 200 Series.
- Muffler delete options: kits that replace the muffler with pipe, for a stronger exhaust note.
- Model-specific fitment: kits are split by engine size, cab style, wheelbase and, on some models, automatic or manual gearbox.
Find the Right 4x4 Exhaust for Your Vehicle
Start with your vehicle's make, model and build date, then check whether it has a DPF. Most diesels built from around 2016 onwards have one and need a DPF-back exhaust. Earlier models usually take a non-DPF kit. If you want a louder exhaust note, look for a kit labelled "muffler delete".

4x4 Exhaust System FAQs
Why choose a stainless steel exhaust kit?
Stainless steel resists rust and corrosion better than the mild steel used in many factory exhausts. This helps the system last longer on 4WDs that see water crossings, mud, salt and long touring trips.
What's the difference between DPF-back, non-DPF and cat-back exhausts?
- DPF-back: replaces the system from the diesel particulate filter rearward and keeps the DPF in place.
- Non-DPF: suits earlier diesels that were built without a DPF.
- Cat-back: replaces everything after the catalytic converter. It's typically used on petrol vehicles, such as our Dodge RAM 1500 kit.
How do I know if my 4WD has a DPF?
Most diesel 4WDs sold in Australia from around 2016 onwards have a DPF, but it varies by model and build date. Check your owner's manual or the vehicle's build plate, and match it to the build date range in the product listing. If you're unsure, contact us before ordering.
What does a muffler delete do?
A muffler delete replaces the muffler with pipe, which makes the exhaust louder. Vehicle noise rules vary between states, so check the requirements where you live before fitting one.
Will an exhaust kit fit my vehicle?
Each kit is listed for a specific make, model, engine, body style and build date range. Some are also split by gearbox (auto or manual) or by wheelbase. Check every detail in the listing against your vehicle before ordering.
Can I install an exhaust kit myself?
Confident home mechanics with the right tools can fit some kits. For most owners, we recommend having an exhaust or 4WD workshop install the system, to make sure it's sealed, supported and clear of other components.
When should I receive my exhaust kit?
An in-stock item usually ships within two business days. Depending on the item and where it's going, delivery takes 2–7 business days.
